The upland areas of The Yorkshire Dales are famous for their Limestone Pavements. These ancient seabed’s, eroded by glaciers, time, and the elements, provide a unique micro-climate which plays host to a diversity of rare flora. These formations known as ‘Clints and Grykes’ form a fascinating labyrinth of fissures from which like emerges and clings tenaciously to the surrounding rock. the wild uplands of the Yorkshire dales are not a place for the weak and this is characterised by the hardy trees that incredulously survive in theses harsh surrounding.
